Symmetrical Families

The same as UK families, men act the only breadwinner role in family several years ago in china, women take charge of all of the housework and take care of children and old adults at home. Gradually, more and more women get their own career, they also in paid employment, and then do the housework and take care of child and old parents with husband together.
Something different from the UK families, women in Chinese families many years ago stood in a low rank in the family, men can got more than one wife in law.if women didn't bear a male child, she would feel shame and none of the relatives would pay attention on her.the attitude and the law has been changed now,but there are also many more parents and grandparent who prefer the male child more than female child in some work-class families.

Hi Riva

Thankyou so much for writing about symmetrical families and the comparisons between UK and China. It is so interesting to learn and discover how different societies, cultures, countries, do things differently.

Of course, as society changes, we too, begin to change. Things that were once unacceptable, become acceptable. Things that once we didn't do, we now do. That's how the world changes. I can understand that parents and grandparents still have these ideas. Do you think you will have the same ideas when you are married and raise a family?

I am so happy to get your comment.
Absolutely, the thing and the idea have been changed as the world changed, i can understand some of my parents' and grandparents' idea, but i can't receive all, because they are difficult to understand sometime, such as they prefer grandson.i think that boy or girl is not diffierent for me when i get marry.
