Education in Britain - Homeschooling

According to web site http://www.privateschools.co.uk/, i discovered that there are 2,500+ non-government fund schools in the UK which are independent of local or central government control. Such as Lyndon Preparatory School , Cardiff Academy and so on.It used to be thought that only rich and Privately-educated people sent their children to Private schools. This is certainly not true now. More than half the children entering private education have parents who were educated in the state system.

Homeschooling has grown significantly over the past several years, with current estimates of up to 1.5 million students now attending homeschool.

A majority of homeschoolers have one or more of the following three basic reasons: 1) School environment 2) Religious or Moral 3) Academics. There is a huge variety of advantages ,Some homeschool so their child can be in the movies. Some homeschool because it is hard to get rid of bad public school teachers. Others homeschool because of the father's work schedule.
Inspite of so many advantages, there are also many disvantages of homeschooling in my opinion. The foremost important one is the friendship of the classmate.Either discussing assignment or playing together is a good method to improve students' communication.

Hello Riva

It is interesting to read that more children are being sent to private schools. For many families, sending children to a particular private school eg ETON or AMPLEFORTH is a family tradition that has been passed on from generation to generation.

I can see you've done some research to find reasons WHY people choose to homeschool their children. As you say, there are both advantages and disadvantages.

How can parents solve some of the problems that result from homeschooling their children?

Well done.
